SURO is an international leadership program designed to help build tomorrow's leaders in the bleeding disorders community. The program was created by the University of Texas Health Science Center, Gulf States Hemophilia and Thrombophilia Center (UTHS) in 2007 and is administered by the Lone Star Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation, with support from Bayer HealthCare. To date, the SURO program has trained nearly 90 individuals from more than 20 countries.
The SURO Leadership Program is an international youth leadership program designed to develop and train young adults in the bleeding disorders community who have the drive, interest and ability to become a leader.
SURO's is defined by the five D's: discover, develop, direct, distinguished, and determined young people. SURO is designed to use a meeting style program format that includes educational topics in medical and leadership skill building, a Plant Tour for factor concentrate, motivational speakers, communication & public speaking training and community development skills. There are assignments between meetings that are specific to the program training and success of accomplishing each individual attendee's goals.
